Get The Resort Look In Your Bedroom

Vacations inspire thoughts of white sandy beaches and cool tropical breezes. Don’t you deserve to keep a touch of the tropics at home? There are many styles and brands of bedding associated with tropical looks ranging from Tommy Bahama to Dean Miller. A common mistake many folks make is to take the tropical look to far and make their bedrooms borderline tacky. So the key is to use the tropics as inspiration but not the only driver.
Most master suites have nice elements to work with such as a beige tone carpet. It’s important to keep a color range theme common through the room with pops of color and excitement. In the warm summer months a light weight blanket is a great way to provide coverage without being bulky or too warm. The new Tommy Bahama bedding line of casual blankets are a nice option that comes in a lighter weight down alternative. The Tommy Bahama blankets come in three colors including the lovely sounding coconut cream, celadon and crisp white.
The sheets on your bed should make you feel comfortable and allow your skin to breathe freely through the night. One of our favorite choices in sheeting is linens made from Tencel Lyocell – it feels silky and stays cool to the touch. We always prefer sheets in either crisp white or a cream color – they tend to be the most flexible colors to work with.
When it comes to pillows here you want to layer in some euro’s, some kings and some jumbo’s. For a king size bed you should consider having three euro’s sitting upright against the headboard. Placed in a stacked format we advise using two kings and two jumbo’s. Most hotels use either a down alternative or a natural blend pillow like a 50/50. We really like the new Tommy Bahama Pillows featuring our favorite Tencel Lyocell fabric. The Tommy pillows are stuffed with PrimaLoft Luxury Down Alternative filling.
Now to get the tropical resort look layer on some fun Dean Miller decorative pillows paired with a throw or bed runner at the foot of the bed. You could even sprinkle on some faux flower petals. Of course you could always buy a bed in a bag type tropical bedding set but we prefer layering in smart pieces like Tommy Bahama Bedding and fun Dean Miller Pieces.
Another simple modification to your master suite is to paint an accent wall such as the wall behind your bed. Of course you could go with a fun peacock blue color or go more subtle with a dusty rose color. Your bedding basic pieces don’t need to be gimmicky but you should take care to bring the pop colors used to go along with your colorful decorative pillows.
Don’t forget to leave a mint on your bed pillow!
