The Best Exercise Regime For Stressed-Out Stay-At-Home Mommies

It's hard to stick to or even start an exercise regime as a stay-at-home mom or dad but it's not impossible. Fortunately, if you start to look at the day with a creative mind you'll find that the day of a busy parent has many surprising opportunities to sneak a work out in. You just need to know where to find them. Here are just a few ideas for you to sneak in some of that all important exercise time that have never presented themselves to you before.

Involve your children your workout routine With the alarming rate of childhood obesity, it's every parent's duty to keep their children and themselves on some sort of a regular exercise regime. Here's a fun option: The next time you tell your children to go outside to play take the opportunity to play with them too. Don't let what you need to do be an excuse not to get moving and spend time with your children.

Another great motivator is putting your workout clothes on first thing in the morning and vowing not to take them off until you've done your workout for the day. By doing this, you're ready to squeeze in that workout time at the instant you find an opportunity - say, when the children nod off for a nap or are watching "Yo-Gabba-Gabba". By doing this, you're constantly reminding yourself of the priority you've set for your exercise regime.

To be sure, no matter how hard you try, some days don't seem to present any opportunities to complete your entire exercise regime. Even on days where a full workout isn't an option, there are simple ways to supplement your exercise regime without a full-on 30 minute cardio session. One idea: you can park farther away from the stores you visit to sneak in some extra walking time. Adding on to that idea, pick up the pace when you walk to and through the store. Full-time parents can make their workouts a game with small children by doing push-ups with young children on their backs or leg lifts with their child holding on. Your children will love it. You can always job in place or do jumping jacks during those in between times when laundry to dry or a pot to boil. At the end of the day being active will help you feel better it makes you a better parent for setting a healthy example for your children to follow.
