Why do most diets fail? According to weight loss authority R.J. Holcombe, they fail when they don’t provide people with the right kind of nutrition to stave off hunger.
That hunger you feel is a symptom, it isn’t always a signal you really need to eat. Knowing that, it can be easier to deal with. If you do choose to eat, observe the effect it has on your hunger. If meal replacement doesn't help your hunger; you could be the victim of the following, 1) a medical symptom, or 2) poor habits. Assuming you and your doctor have ruled out things like a hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, or other medical conditions, it is time to pinpoint other possible sources for your hunger. The cure is not going to be more food or diet pills.
How can you develop healthy habits? Craving a snack just a few minutes after finishing a meal, could be a sign that your body is not processing its food correctly. Excess sugars and starches, like muffins or pie, cause hunger cravings because they raise blood sugar. Cutting way back on simple carbohydrates, such as chips, white bread and adding more protein is all it takes to cure out-of-control hunger. It takes about two to three days to flush out the craving for high carbohydrate foods from your system. During which you may feel hungrier. Hang in there and confine your snacking to carb-free foods like cheese, meat, protein sources like nuts and add more fiber, like fresh veggies to your meals, you will experience a dramatic increase in hunger control.
Most weight management programs ignore the fact that you will feel hunger, crave certain foods and lack energy during the transition from your unhealthy diet, full of simple sugars and carbs, to one rich in complex carbs, fresh fruits and veggies and good protein sources.
We touched on some of the reasons for cravings in our discussion of hunger. Cravings are influenced by our habits, eating when stressed, in front of the TV, eating fast food loaded with simple sugars and carbs. A natural weight loss system allows you to begin to replace unhealthy choices with better ones. As example when you are craving something salty and crunchy like potato chips substitute veggie chips, air-pop popcorn with sea salt, salted dry roasted nuts, or whole grain crackers. If you really want something gooey and sweet consider fat-free pudding, or vanilla yogurt with fruit and granola stirred in, or a diet shake.
A good solid weight loss program provides you with helpful tips to stave off hunger and cravings and provide you with more energy to live a healthful life.
Final tips for achieving successful weight loss: Create a log of your eating habits, discovering when you eat for hunger or emotional reasons; fight your cravings to lose weight by substituting simple carbs for complex carbs. Add more healthy veggies and good protein for more hunger resistance and vibrant energy. Eat when hungry, filling your stomach with nutrient-rich food for a natural weight loss program.
