How Free Is Free?

Does free have a price tag? How free is free.

Over the past few years, there has been a giant sucking sound over at AOL. Have you heard it? AOL subscribers have been beating a hasty retreat. Cable and telephone companies have been slaughtering them with their high speed internet lure.

In order to stem the flow, AOL has told their subscribers that they can keep their screen name for free.

Ah ha! That word again, free.

Just think, for some this represents a $24 per month saving. (Need something to help out with the cost of gas for the car? Thank you AOL). But not so fast.

I forgot to mention something. Customer Service. It has traditionally always been free, but there is now a cost for those who chose to grab the free option. I really don't know how much of a trade off this loss of free customer service represents, but I do know this, AOL is not in business to lose money.

What does this mean? Well, for now, hold on to that $24. Not so fast at the gas pumps. You may be forced to dig into the grocery money.

The question still remains, how free is free?

Are you still reading this? Got a really good one for you. I don't know what to make of this. Except to say, they do things a bit differently over in Europe.

Company giants IPE.com, Europe's premier investment and pensions website, recently redesigned and upgraded their website. As a result, they are asking visitors to the site, (all 20,000+), to sign up again.

Here is how they asked. We know we asked you to do this on a previous occasion, we apologize for taking another five minutes from your life, at least you know it's worth the effort!

My mouth dropped open. And they capped the ad off with this, so it's well worth the time to register free of charge. Now that is what I call a doosey! Have they been charging these unfortunate visitors to pay for registration?

Again I ask, how free is free? You tell me.

Believe it or not, this article is about my favorite website, or should I say, my favorite website developers.

They are sitesell. With these guys, I can say without a doubt, free is free!

The sitesell team is lead by a fantastic, gifted guy name Ken Evoy. He is a Canadian physician. Ken used to design toys and games to sell. He accidentally became interested in the internet, and started up sitesell.

Ken has surrounded himself with a fantastic team of competent caring professionals over at sitesell. They have powerful website building tools that will simply, and easily build your website. Hey, these guys are good.

Let me briefly mention their keyword research tool. What a gem. Saves you so much time. The keywords of your intended site are put through the ringer. When they're finally pumped out you'll know whether you have a low-risk or a high-risk site, or maybe even a dud. You can find them here, http://www.sitesell.com/executive52wrw.html

I've saved the best for last. Are you ready? It's free! Now, here we go again with that word free. No no, don't laugh. When these guys say free, guess what? They mean free. They have free modules that you can try out. Hurry on over now.

Let me conclude by saying this. Customer service is free, and setting up your website will not take much more than five minutes from your life.
