1) Have a routine style of working:
If you would be working in an office, you would definitely rush to your office, to be in time, irrespective of your personal works. This is because you have officially committed yourself to work for that company and you would be earning your salary, in return.
The same above mentioned approach should also be followed, while working at home. I am not asking you to rush at work but you must decide upon a fixed working time schedule. In other words, you must get into the habit of establishing a routine working lifestyle, with regard to working at home.
2) Plan your day and take action:
Prepare three lists for the day. They should be named as urgent, important and casual work. There are times when you might have to get an urgent work done, fast. After which, you can tackle important work and then deal with the third list which includes work list.
3) Have a basic work setup:
You must create a basic work environment for yourself. Ensure you have the right tools and systems to work with. Example: Computer, internet connection, a place to keep our files and other books. Even having an appropriate chair and a desk should be a matter of importance to you.
4) Learn how to be disciplined towards your work:
Just because you are working at home, it does not mean that your family members can disturb you and expect you to do errands at any part of the working hours. May be, you could help your family members, depending on your work. But ensure that you have the right to work without being disturbed by your family members, who may ask you to get some casual work done. Maybe, you could schedule that particular casual house job work, in the later part of the day. However, if the matter is extremely urgent, then in that case, you need to react, based on the urgency of the situation.
5) Maintain a basic dress sense:
I know that you have decided to make your room as your office. Hence, you may be tempted to work even in your pajamas. But I would encourage you to have a proper casual wear. By wearing a comfortable casual gear, you will be able to maintain a disciplined working lifestyle. Hence, you will perform well while working from home.
6) Make time for yourself:
Since you are working at home, ensure that you do not end up working for long hours. You must learn to schedule time for your casual activities. It will not only bring relaxation to you but it will also allow you to be in contact with the outside world, rather than spending most of he time towards working at home.
