Consider your purpose. There are plenty of reasons to go to a trade show, and you’ll have a better chance of choosing the right one if you know exactly what you expect to get out of the show.
Know who’s coming. Trade shows are often an excellent way to make contact with prospects your sales team can’t ordinarily reach.
Know who covers the event. If a publication ran a feature on your company that could reach your target audience, it could help your business and your booth attendance.
Scope out the other vendors. If you can, attend several shows you’re considering in the year before you plan to attend. Look to see who’s exhibiting there.
The biggest isn’t always the best. Depending on your goals, you’ll often get a better return on investment by choosing a smaller show that’s highly targeted toward your specific business.
Follow your customers. Naturally, you’ll want to pick a show where your current and former customers will be—people who’ve done business with you before are highly likely to do so again.
Attending the right trade show can bring a big payoff. But it can take some research to choose the right one. With the right show for your company, you’re more likely to meet your exhibit goals.
