There are certainly other, more affordable, hair removal systems out there, but are they are good? Let’s investigate, shall we?
Shaving is probably the most widely used of all hair removal method. The advantages are that it’s cheap, easy, fast and available just about anywhere you go. One of the major drawbacks of shaving is that it is short-lived, lasting only a few hours to a day or two. Not to mention the cuts and skin irritations that come with it.
Tweezing and plucking are probably the ones we hate the most, next to waxing. The advantages of tweezing and plucking are that they are also extremely cheap and handy at a moment’s notice for the eyebrows or strays. A few of the disadvantages are that it can be painful, it’s not for large areas, you definitely need a mirror handy, and there is some basic knowledge required where the eyebrows are concerned.
Waxing is often painful, messy, and when doing it yourself it can be unsuccessful. The good news is that it can be done at home. It’s inexpensive and can done fairly quickly.
Electrolysis is where a hair-thin probe is inserted into a hair follicle sending an electrical impulse causing damage to the follicle resulting in it not being able to continue growing. The main advantage of this procedure is the long-lasting effects, as it’s often permanent. Some of the major drawbacks are that it is expensive, painful, and isn’t necessarily recommended for large areas. This will work best on upper lip, chin, and other facial areas.
Over-the-counter creams that dissolve the hair at the surface are not much different from shaving. They are inexpensive, painless, and can also be done anywhere. The drawback is that they often have short term effects, can cause skin irritation, and can smell.
