With BlackBerry Pearl Flip, RIM has launched its first flip form phone in the market. The article will detail all the technical specifications and is a review for the next much discussed phone from RIM:
The BlackBerry phone was initially designated the device model number 9100 and was codenamed as “KickStart” which gradually changed to Pear Flip 8220.
With designs launched by RIM, it was never suggestive that RIM can launch a clamshell form factor and that too at such light weight with so sturdy and huge flip phone. The phone gives the ideal modern look when closed and outer screen displaying incoming calls, messages, BlackBerry Clock (tuned for time with date and day). With design, the phone is aesthetically designed and is tattooed with T-Mobile logo and BlackBerry logo at back. The phone is given a smooth matte black plastic finish at back.
The phone as per RIM’s legacy supports SureType QWERTY keyboard and the keys are nicely spaced. The phone runs on OS 4.6 which is noticeably slower than the mate Bold.
The technical specifications of BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 include:
1. Weighing 102g, the phone is 3.98”x1.97”x0.69”
2. The phone features Wireless E-mail, Organizer, and Browser.
3. The phone is offered with 2MP camera with flash.
4. It is also sported with 3.5mm headset jack.

The phone carries the legacy of BlackBerry device gracefully, thereby offering a nice device to hold on with ease of light weight. The phone is integrated with Lithium Ion battery offering 4 hours of talk time and 336 hours of standby.
To design the compact device, many compromises have been done like “menu” and “back” keys are placed below the call keys which make it confusing for the BlackBerry users. Also, the trackball is the standard trackball instead of “Atomic” trackball as featured in Curve 8900.The camera quality is also not good; the phone is a revolutionary device but with non-fixed patches.
At concluding note, it can be said that the device is good to use and easy to carry, making it the best fit for those who want functions with style.
