The first one is widely known as juggling. Now I understand that in most circumstances you will not juggle a ball in a game but don’t cast this drill away. Juggling helps develop other skills that you will use in the future. This soccer drill is easy, fun and the best part is that it can be done alone.
Juggling the ball sharpens your ball control ability and let's you get a good feel for the ball. By doing this your trapping and dribbling ability will grow which is necessary in game play. Also, juggling will strengthen balance, concentration and the ability to use both feet to kick the ball. All that is necessary is to juggle a half an hour a day to help lay the ground work for other skills.
Our next drill is one called one on one dribbling. To be most effective, you should do this drill in pairs. There are so many instances in game play where you'll need to take on an opponent and get past them. The more practice you have with one on one dribbling the better you'll be when it really counts, in a game.
It would be a wise decision to play both roles when practicing. In one turn you'll want to be the attacker and on the next you'll want to be the defender. Make a game out of it, when the player your practicing with gets past you, it's a point and vice versa.
The last skill we are going to discuss is called one touch passing. The best way to practice this skill is in groups. This drill will help in your ball handling skills and also work on your agility. The basics of this drill is having at least 4 players, 2 on either side about 10 feet apart. To start, just pass the ball to someone on the opposing side by only touching it once. When the ball comes to you immediately kick it to someone else. Once you get used to it try speeding it up to build your skill level.
By practicing soccer drills you can become a great player. It's a very good idea to practice these free soccer drills at home as well. Some of the greats in the game work on their skills for hours even after practice, how do you think they got so good.
