Childbirth is likely to be the most burdensome experience you will ever put your body through. You’ve just spent nine months providing all that is needed to manufacture another human being. When it comes to pregnancy weight loss, you need to respect your body’s extra nutritional needs immediately after childbirth.
On average, a woman will lose 400ml of blood during her delivery and up to 100ml more in the weeks to follow! That is a lot of the body's reserves of vitamins and minerals. Make sure you get the necessary Iron, Magnesium and Calcium your body will need in the weeks just after delivery.
The good news is the body is very resilient and capable of healing itself rather quickly. When you feel you have made a full recovery and your body has normalized, with the go ahead from your doctor, the time soon comes to tackle your pregnancy weight loss and the changes made to your body.
The trick to pregnancy weight loss at this point is to realize there is no trick involved. If you are going to be successful in losing the extra stored fat and permanently keeping it off, you will have to learn to eat correctly and make this part of your lifestyle.
"Dieting" is something temporary or transient. What happens after the "diet"? Maybe you've known other people, friends or family that lost weight temporarily on a diet of fewer calories only to gain back even more weight a few months down the road? This is the result of the body's own protection mechanism as well as the individual compensating for the calories they have deprived themselves of during their "diet".
This is why so many women who set out to tackle pregnancy weight loss are unsuccessful at keeping the weight off. Most are looking at getting fit and losing pregnancy pounds as a temporary program until they can go back to their old eating habits.
After many years in the gym, I have long since learned that there really is a more correct way to eat. You can learn to eat in a way that will melt fat from your body with incredible efficiency and have you feeling healthier and fitter without feeling deprived or that you are missing out. When you begin to live what you have learned, pregnancy weight loss or any other type of weight loss will cease to be a problem.
I've seen many women in the gym, which began with the goal of pregnancy weight loss, incorporate these healthy eating habits into their daily lifestyle, and dramatically change their bodies in a period of 4-6 months. Once you commit, this transition is not as difficult as you might think. And once you cross that bridge, you'll wonder what took you so long.
