Send Letters to the Editor is Marketing Made Easy … Readers Will Notice You

Not many people take the time to send a letter to the Editor of a newspaper. You can do this … effortlessly.

I’m talking about doing this both with paper newspapers or their online version. This will get you noticed and cost you nothing. You may even be seen as the expert in this area and called by the newspaper every time an opinion or facts on your topic are needed.

It’s a simple thing to do and costs only your time especially if you read newspaper(s) every day – or even on the weekend.

How do entrepreneurs do this?

1. Read the newspaper and look at headlines about a topic and problems that YOUR product or service solves. That means you know the answer and can fix it. Stop and read this article.

2. Write a letter to the editor based on your actual experience. Be positive. This will demonstrate your expertise without being a sales pitch. You may already have an article you’ve written on this very thing. Be sure to put not only your name but your business name, email address, and website. Make it easy to be found.

3. Send your letter by mail or email to the editor of the paper (if it’s a small local one or a sizeable daily.

4. Follow up with a call to that editor to introduce yourself and to see if your letter is being published and when and if the contact information you put on your letter will be printed, too.

Watch your email and your website numbers increase. It will probably take more than one letter for this to happen but keep on doing it. You could become known as the expert at exactly what you want to promote .. and are passionate about.
