Some massages will involve you having to remove your clothes where as others can be done through a Tshirt or shirt
Would I benefit from having a massage?
Different massages are good for different people and problems. Some focus on relieving muscle pain, others work to improve blood circulation and some are designed just to relax you! If it is something specific you are after then it is worth researching the different types of massage to make sure you get maximum benefit. But if you havent had a massage before and are just wanting one that feels really good and promotes general well being then something like an aromatherapy or any regular body massage would be a good choice.
If you are a keen athlete or are recovering from an injury massage can be excellent for working out those knotted muscles and it also speeds up the healing process by improving circulation to the cells of the body.
Massage is also a great way to de-stress as the stimulation releases endorphins that will promote a sense of well being and it allows quality time to switch off from day-to-day worries. Your therapist will be very acute to what you want from your massage; if you want to talk then they will be happy to chat away to you but if you want to just lie back and relax and maybe even drift off to sleep then they will just keep quiet to allow you to do this.
How much does a massage cost?
As there are so many different types of massage it is difficult to say how much a massage in general will cost. However a half body massage is likely to be between 30 and 50 and a full body could be anything from 40 up to 100 depending on the spa, duration of massage and the type.
Before you go...
Massage does improve blood circulation so is useful to rid the body of toxins. It is therefore suggested to drink lots of water before and after a massage. Wear comfortable clothing although many massages you will need to remove some of all of your clothes and will be covered in towels instead.
You will be expected to have a short medical with the therapist providing information about your health, liefestyle, any recent illness or injury, any allrgies and if you are pregnant you will also need to make your therapist aware of this.
