An Outdoor Adventure as an Escape from the Daily Grind

People today work harder than ever. 9 to 5 has become 5 to 9 for many hard working Americans. Stress levels are at an all time high, and time to relax and partake in activities for ourselves is at an all time low. The few and fortunate make time to do fun things for themselves, but in reality it is healthy for everyone to engage in fun, stress-relieving activities on a regular basis. Doing this can reduce stress, improve focus, and provide an overall balance in life that few people have. Getting outdoors is a great way to see and experience things you wouldn’t on a daily basis, and also a fantastic way to disguise exercise as a very enjoyable activity. There are plenty to activities to choose from too, so get out there!

Kayaking

A trip down a river in a kayak is a water adventure like no other. There is something calming and yet also exhilarating about working your way through the water toward your goal at the end of the run. Many people simply get hooked on the sense of accomplishment that comes from completing kayak trips! Kayaking allows people to get in the thick of things and really become a part of nature, if only for a little while.

Rafting

Great for group outings or team building exercises, whitewater rafting is an experience people talk about for a lifetime. A guide will safely maneuver rafters down the river while giving instructions that really let them become an integral part of the adventure. Some of the best rafting around can be found in Colorado, as there are many flowing rivers surrounded by picturesque mountains that provide unparalleled scenery. For those interested in international adventure travel, I also suggest looking into rafting South America. Peru and Ecuador both offer spectacular destinations for the rafting aficionado or for the novice looking to really get away and try something new.

Snow Skills

Those willing to brave the cold are in for even more memories and scenery than the people who just stop at the warm weather sports. If you live in or vacation in a place with snow, try snowshoeing. Great exercise and a greater appreciation for the terrain are just a couple of benefits of the activity. Don’t worry if you don’t have the experience- a snowshoeing guide can assist you until you are ready to venture out on your own.

Making the Time

How can such busy people make time to actually get out and escape from the grind of everyday life for a while? Instead of spending precious weekends and/or holidays in front of the TV, make plans to get outside, get some exercise, make some memories, and experience something you have never experienced before. Most locales have some type of outdoor adventure travel that you can partake in. Once you do, you will be hooked and will find yourself looking forward to your weekly or monthly escapes from the hectic life you keep during the week.
