Losing Man Breasts - Should You Have Surgery

Losing man breasts is becoming a more sought after piece of information as more men are struggling to deal with the impact they are having on their lives. One recommendation that they encounter is that of surgery.

Surgery is an option for anyone that suffers from man boobs but in some cases it can be the only way of getting rid of man boobs. This is because some cases of man boobs are caused by a condition known as Gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia surgery takes around 60 to 90 minutes to complete and tends to be done on an outpatient basis although on occasions an overnight stay may be required. The procedure will take place under general or local anesthetic.

Although this is what you can expect from an average case there are factors and risks which can make them slightly different. Complications can arise from surgery and surgery on man breasts is no different.

The risk isn't high and problems arise in very few cases of the procedure but never the less the risk is there. Your doctor or surgeon will explain all the risk involved more thoroughly and explain everything that will happen to you step by step.

You should be able to return to work in around 5 days as long as it isn't anything too physical and there is no heavy lifting involved. It will take up to 3 weeks for you to be back to 100% so try to resume from anything too physical until then.

In the long term the only negative result will be a scar left by the procedure. This will however be very minimal. Other than this there should be no long term problems whatsoever.

The cost of the surgery is however a massive negative as the procedure can cost anything from $2000 all the way up to $10000. This wouldn't be so bad if this was covered by health insurance but as the insurers see it as a form of cosmetic surgery rather than medical it is highly unlikely they will pay out.

If you are looking at losing man breasts then I would highly recommend you try all the other methods available to you before opting for surgery. Surgery does work but as it cost so much and is only required in a low number of cases I would advise it only as a last resort.
