Cost of Flights Soaring

Another price increase to add to the credit crunch list is the cost of flights. Low budget airlines are being hit hard as the increased price of oil is being reluctantly passed down to the consumers by the airlines. Prices for flights are still at record lows but this will not be the case within 12 months.

A number of main airlines have bumped up their prices in recent months. One of the main airlines have said that costs have risen by 85 per cent over the past year, so the transatlantic fuel surcharge of €70 for a round-trip fare is an absolute necessity.

Some airlines are fighting a losing battle as they are attempting to lower prices everywhere else possible in a bid to even out the increasing fuel prices

This should prompt people to book in advance as this is the only guaranteed method to make a saving when booking your flights.

Another tip to avoid maximum prices is to take your refreshments on board (as long as they do not break any airline rules or regulations) with you. Most airlines will charge around £10 - £15 for an in flight meal, the price of onboard refreshments are also under sized and over valued.

Using online price comparison sites is also highly recommended as they provide the details of most airline deal and can produce an instant selection of results from the criteria you have entered. You will no doubt find the best possible deal on a price comparison site.

Try using a variety of searches including 'Cheap late deals', cheap last minute holidays or last minute bargain breaks along with you destination and you will find the most relevant results.
