Where Time Goes
Have you ever sat down and thought about what you do with your time on a day to day basis? I ask this because I have noticed recently that time is truly flying. It’s not something that any of us want to happen, but life gets busy and allocating time becomes mandatory. You must find the right mix of work, family, and personal time each day and you have to do it in a few short hours. Each person is different, but we all live by the same clock.
If you are like most people, eight hours of your day is spent in the work place and that doesn’t even include commute time. So tack another hour on for your drive to and from work and you have now burned through nine hours of your day. This leaves little time for whatever you have planned after.
A lot of people have more responsibilities than just going to work. This includes kids and family time, school, or possibly community positions that require time outside of the home. It is a constant battle balancing all of the things that need to get done during the day and in so little time. Your attention is so important to your family and when you don’t have much to offer, every single minute is important.
Before you know it, the sun has gone down and the kids have hit the sack. However, often times this doesn’t mean that you can just sit and relax because now you need to take care of other things which need to get done, such as picking up around the house or getting things ready for the next day.
So what is the purpose of looking at your day from this perspective? The main goal is to set priorities and be sure to spend time with the ones that you love. Your wife or significant other needs your attention and if you don’t make time for them, you lose it. This may mean that getting up earlier to accomplish all of your goals is the only way to keep up with your schedule because as we all know, we are only allotted so much time each day. Use it wisely and make sure you get the most out of every day.
Obviously each person has their own set of priorities, but any way you look at your day, it’s only 24 hours. If you manage your time wisely you can accomplish great things in this life.
