Nowadays we are so concerned about what others think about
us that we forget to look inside ourselves. This actually
reflects how much self esteem or self confidence an
individuals will actually have. And if we do a deeper
analysis about this, we will find that many of the root
causes of obesity actually comes from the lack of self
esteem or lack of self confidences. Studies has also shown
that those with higher self esteem have better health than
those with low self esteem.
People with higher self esteem generally are fitter than
those with lower self esteem. This is because those with low
self esteem tend to be under more self induced stress. And
what this does is that, it will lead to them eating more
when they are depressed and ultimately gaining weight.
Although this may not be true for everyone but, generally
this is the case for the majority of the population.
Recently, several girls of a reputed high school were asked
to rate how happy they felt, 1 being the lowest rating and
10 being the highest. I know it is natural for girls to gain
weight as they reach puberty, but it is important to note
that girls who rated themselves on the lower end of the
scale gained more weight within a couple of years than
others!
From the studies, you can observe that how you feel have a
direct relationship on how much you will weigh in the end.
The happier you are, the less weight that you will gain.
So don't forget to treat or pamper yourself once in awhile.
When you do that, you will ultimately boost your own self
esteem level and self confidences level too. So don't feel
guilty if you decided to treat yourself to something that
you wish or want to do.
Don't get yourself engrossed with others. Reward yourself
sometimes as well. If you keep thinking of those all the
time, at the end of the day, you might forget that you have
your own life and values. When that happens, your own self
esteem might drop.
When we find ourselves too busy, we always look for
shortcuts and whatever is convenient. Convenient takeaway
meals are usually the junk foods that causes obesity. Next
time try instead to cook vegetables rather than going to the
fast foods restaurants. If you complain that you do not have
the time, then you will find it difficult to lose weight. So
if you love yourself then find time for yourself as well.
