What is your design of the ultimate spiritual retreat?
Part of the fun of a spiritual retreat is in the planning stage. Always think about what would relax and regenerate you. Also incorporate things or events into the sketch that will accomplish this. A spiritual retreat might seem to be something that you want to do alone. By yourself you'll find more time for contemplation and far less distractions too. On the other side, there are groups that get together so as to make spiritual pilgrimages, attend motivational functions and the like. These are also beneficial.
Here are some suggestions for you to follow for a spiritual vacation that could be a time of both healing and renewal.
1) Select to go to a place that will represent a spiritual power for you
2) Submerge yourself in a place of natural beauty - i.e., Sedona, Yellowstone, any wilderness area, or beach area, etc. You could swim with the dolphins in various parts of the world, including Hawaii, where you could even lodge with other members of the group.
3) Take along relaxation, meditation, motivational audios, etc... Maybe set aside a 2-4 hour period where you can relax and absorb the motivational messages or just simply relax and give your mind some time to rest.
4) Take a walk on a beach - let the sound of the waves ease your mind and the ocean air refresh your body.
5) Go on for an actual vision quest. There are a lot of organizations that will take care of your planning, you can just show up and head into an isolated spot in the wilderness.
6) Conquer fear. Think of something you fear doing and then do it.
7) Be silent for a day though impossible for many.
8) Do something that you've never done. Go to somewhere you never have been. Else combine both!
Make each day a spiritual retreat
The catalog of spiritual things that you can do to refresh your mind, body and soul are infinite. As you think of things that you could do on a spiritual retreat why not realize that many of these things you can do without going on "vacation."
You can set aside some time to listen and have motivational and relaxation audios at home. Go to a day bath and get pampered.
