It’s The Fit, Not The Tag Size, That Matters

So many women make major fashion faux pas. We choose a garment based on the tag size, not on whether it actually fits right. Even though you can squeeze into that size 8 or size 10, you may not be wearing the correct size for your body.

"We often think that if an article of clothing fits around our body that it fits our body, but this is not the same thing," says celebrity stylist Laura Siebold. Clothes should gently curve around your body, without clinging but without hiding your shape, she says.

As unflattering as baggy, shapeless clothing can be, wearing outfits that are too small can be an even bigger fashion disaster. It is best to try a size up (even if it’s hard to do) to see if it is a better fit rather than wear a look that is too tight.

Ignore size tags and go for what looks best on your body. Here’s a rule of thumb: To make sure you have the right size, make sure there's about a finger's width of space between your skin and the garment. No more and no less!
